Modern erosion scarp .

Figure 8a: Modern erosion scarp (3-4 m in height) that extends several hundred meters in length north of the Grays Harbor North Jetty. This scarp along with another smaller one at the Columbia River North Jetty showed northward extension following the 1998 El Nino. However, these modern beach erosion features differ from the large beach retreat scarps (LBRS) in their lack of continuity, and small amplitude (typically less than 3 m in height). This modern-analog scarp terminates at its landward high-point in nearly-horizontal backshore and foredune deposits. Photograph view due east.
