Holocene progradational shoreface deposits, dipping seaward, overlie the transgressive ravinement surface. This ravinement surface was drilled and dated at nearby sites (Herb, 2000). A basal gravel layer rests on the ravinement surface in this area. The upper 5 m of Holocene progradational facies was vibracored in the RVDune profile (Woxell, 1998). The progradation facies includes medium well-sorted beach sand with rare laminae of coarser sand, fine shell fragments and/or heavy minerals.
